Rev Egan M. Bovell is a purpose-driven, risk-taking, change agent and encourager. He is gifted
with discernment and passionate about faith as it intersects with community. With more
than fifty years of leadership in the church, he has faithfully served God’s people with a
balanced combination of dynamic lay ministry and a deep commitment to helping
individuals encounter Jesus Christ in a personal way.
Though first experiencing the call of God on his life in a local Pentecostal church in his
birth country of Barbados in the West Indies, Rev Egan was nurtured and shaped by the
discipline and practices of the Methodist Church of the Caribbean and the Americas.
These humble beginnings formed a ministry marked by both Spirit-filled passion. servant
leadership and steadfast dedication to the life and ministry of the church.
Equipped both spiritually and academically, Rev Egan is a graduate of the Barbados
Institute of Management and Productivity, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban
Ministries from Hartford Seminary, and earned a Diploma in Banking from the New
England Banking Institute. Currently, he is enrolled at Wesley Theological Seminary in
Washington DC. completing the approved Methodist Course of Study after having
completed the UMC Local Pastor’s School.
Beyond theological formation, Rev Egan has an extensive professional experience. Over
the course of a distinguished 35-year career in banking and finance, he rose from the role
of Bank Teller to retire as a Regional Vice President. This professional expertise
continues to inform his ministry, particularly in stewardship and leadership. He is a
certified Budget Coach and currently serves as President of the New York Annual
Conference Board of Finance and Administration.
Throughout his career, Rev Egan has served in a variety of leadership roles spanning
business, community, church, and nonprofit organizations. Yet all of the above pales in
comparison to his unabashed commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and his
abiding faith in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. This deep faith continues to
shape his preaching, leading, encouraging, and witnessing, as he helps others encounter
Jesus Christ in a personal and life-changing way. He believes that God is still renewing
his mind daily and calling the church to embrace new possibilities.
He has been joyfully married to his high school sweetheart, Felicia, for 42 years and is the
proud father of three accomplished adult children, Kristin, Kerrie, and Christopher,
together with three beloved “in-loves” and three cherished grandchildren.
His favorite Scripture is Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up;
do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the
wasteland.” He embraces the personal moniker: “In the grip of grace.”
