Today we conclude our summer journey through Ephesians. Next week I will be away and preaching for you will be Margaret Steinegger-Keyser. We have been reading the book of Ephesians for the last several Sundays. Last Sunday I gave you a phrase that I wanted you to repeat to yourself all this past week. Do you remember what that phrase was? It was from Ephesians, and it was very simple, but I didn’t tell you that I was going to quiz you on it today. So I will remind you: last week I asked you to say to yourself this: I want to lead a life worthy of my calling. That was the motto for last week. The letter has encouraged us to live worthwhile lives. Today we continue our reading in Ephesians, and next week we will conclude our reading in Ephesians. (more…)
Ephesians 4: 1-16

For the last few weeks we have been reading the letter to the Ephesians, and I’ve again included a study guide in your program today. In the outline of the letter that we’ve been using, today’s reading begins the second part of the letter. The first part dealt mostly with ideas, trying to give us doctrines that we should know. But this second part will shift from trying to get us to know the right things, to trying to get us to do the right things. So I hope you will notice that shift today as we listen for what Ephesians might teach us. (more…)
